Autoimmune disorder occurs when the body’s immune system accidentally attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. There are more than 80 types of autoimmune disorders.


Blood cells in the body’s immune system help protect against harmful substances. Examples include bacteria, viruses, toxins, cancer cells, and blood and tissue from outside the body. These substances contain antigens. The immune system produces antibodies against these antigens, which allow it to destroy these harmful substances.

When you have an autoimmune disorder, your immune system does not recognize the difference between healthy tissue and harmful antigens. As a result, the body initiates the process of destroying normal tissues.

The exact cause of autoimmune disorders is unknown. One principle is that certain microbes (such as bacteria or viruses) or drugs can trigger changes that confuse the immune system. It can often occur in people who have the genes for autoimmune disorders.

Autoimmune disorder can affect one or more organs or tissue types. Areas often affected by autoimmune disorders:

Endocrine glands, joints, muscles, red blood cells, skin, such as blood vessels, connective tissue, thyroid or pancreas. Good bacteria work very well in preventing such diseases. It stays in the intestines and helps the body in preventing such diseases. The body’s autoimmune tissue kills the good bacteria. These good bacteria grow through the foods we eat such as sour yogurt, fermented foods, and idly flour. These good bacteria are also found in sabza nuts.

Sabza nuts are rich in alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which boosts metabolism and helps with weight loss. In addition, flavonoids like vicenine, orientine and beta carotene keep your immune system strong. It also keeps away colds and flu.
