The cashew tree nut is called cashew nut and is commonly eaten as food. These nuts are also used to make medicine.

Cashews are used for stomach and intestinal (gastrointestinal) diseases. Some people apply cashews directly to the pimples to stimulate the skin.

How does it work in the body?

Cashews contain chemicals that work against certain bacteria. Early research suggests that eating a diet high in cashews may not improve blood pressure, cholesterol, waist circumference, or body mass index (BMI) in people with metabolic syndrome. Cashews raise blood sugar levels before meals.

Side effects

Cashews are safe to consume up to 350-700 mg in the normal diet. It should also be taken at night with soaked cashews. Taking it during the day can cause heartburn and indigestion problems. Consumption of roasted cashews can irritate the skin and cause redness and blisters.

Doctors say that cashews are safe for pregnant and lactating mothers to eat, but it is not advisable to consume large amounts of cashews when used as medicine.

Cashews can cause allergic reactions in people who are sensitive to hazelnuts, pistachios, almonds, peanuts or pectin. If you have allergies, talk to your doctor before taking cashews.

Diabetes: There is some evidence that eating large amounts of cashews can raise blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes and you consume a lot of cashews, watch your blood sugar carefully. You will need to adjust the dosage of your diabetes medication.

Surgery: Since cashews affect blood sugar levels, it can interfere with blood sugar control during and after surgery. Avoid eating large amounts of cashews for at least 2 weeks before surgery.
