The pandemic that is engulfing children. Follow these precautions

A new type of chronovirus (known as SARS-CoV-2) has made people sick with flu-like symptoms. This disease is caused by a virus called C0VID-19. The virus spreads easily and affects people around the world.

The condition can be serious in some children who are infected with the virus. And some have no symptoms at all. Some children have symptoms of inflammation all over the body, sometimes they are discovered a few weeks after being infected with the virus. This is called Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) in children. Doctors are trying to find out how these symptoms are related to chronovirus infection.

Symptoms found in children with MIS-C include:

Fever, abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea, body rash, neck pain, red eyes, very tired, red, cracked lips, swollen glands (swollen lymph nodes)

Children with MIS-C may have difficulty breathing, chest pain or pressure, blue lips or face, confusion or difficulty waking.

How is chronovirus (C0VID-19) transmitted?

People can be infected with the carnivorous virus from others even if they have no symptoms. When an infected person inhales, speaks, sneezes or coughs, it sends small droplets into the air. These can enter the nose, mouth, or eyes of those nearby, or be inhaled. Some of the smallest droplets, called aerosols, remain in the air for minutes to hours and can travel on air currents. But it seems that the risk of spreading is higher when people are less than 6 feet away.

People can also become infected if the infected point touches the surface and then touches their nose, mouth or eyes.

Is chronovirus (C0VID-19) dangerous for children?

Very few cases are still reported in children. In general, the virus causes milder infection in children than in adults or the elderly.

Take immediate care if your child has these symptoms:

Difficulty breathing, severe abdominal pain, chest pain or pressure

Struggling with confusion,

Saying there is a problem with staying awake

These symptoms can be warning signs of serious illness.

C0VID-19 has no specific drug. Most people who have it recover better at home with fluids, rest and comfort. Some people become very ill and need hospital treatment.

To protect yourself and your family:

Children over the age of 2 should wear a mask when in public and around other people to prevent the spread of the virus. Stay away from busy places.

Avoid outdoor indoor spaces that do not provide fresh air from the outside. Restaurants and bars are especially dangerous because people have to wear their masks to eat and drink. That is why it is safe to eat at home.

You should be at least 6 feet away from others. C0VID-19 can spread before a person has symptoms and when someone does not.

Wash your hands thoroughly and often. Rinse with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol. Teach your children the same way. Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.

Use or wipe with a household cleaner to clean and disinfect most exposed surfaces and objects (such as doorknobs, cell phones and counters). Get tested for C0VID-19 when someone in your family is sick.

Avoid unnecessary travel. Make sure your children are vaccinated. Protect them from diseases like measles and flu.

C0VID-19 vaccines are now available for people 18 and older. Everyone should be vaccinated as soon as they qualify. Studies are still underway to determine if vaccines are safe and effective in children under 16 years of age.
